~ Featured Bands and Artists~
Minneapolis' most influential contributions to American popular music began in the 1970s and 1980s, when the city's music scene launched the careers of acclaimed performers like the multi-platinum soul singer Prince, and cult favorites The Replacements and Hüsker Dü. Minneapolis has produced a number of famous performers, such as Bob Dylan, who began his musical career in the Minneapolis area. More recently, the Twin Cities has played a role in the national hip-hop scene with artists such as Atmosphere and P.O.S. Who have taken home several awards at the Minnesota Music Awards. With scores of venues and thousands of active musicians the Minneapolis music scene is as vibrant now as at any time in its cultural musical history. Keep an eye out for the bands featured here - they may just be the next national superstar, and just think, you can say you saw 'em here First!
Take for example the beautiful and hauntingly melodeous (yes I made that up - the word melodeous not the beautiful part) Haley Bonar. Our very own Minneapolis music sensation. Take a time out and watch her sing Green Eyed Boy from her album Big Star. And then click her pic at top to listen to her latest album Bad Reputation.
The bands listed below are the Pioneers of Minneapolis Music - well at least the bands who first jumped on board with us here at MinneapolisMusic.com. Since our inception we have created a new interactive musicians section to the site which can be found in the V.I.P. Room. But take all the time you want with these bands below and discover something new about a local twin cities band that you may not be familiar with.
